Amazon gearing up to officially launch Amazon Care in the United States

According to reliable sources, American multinational technology giant Amazon.com Inc. is preparing to officially launch Amazon Care in the United States this summer. The new service will not only be available for Amazon’s employees but also to companies of all sizes.

For those uninitiated, the Amazon Care model basically combines on-demand and in-person care and allows the tech giant to cater to the shortcomings currently witnessed in the employer-sponsored healthcare vertical.

The recent development comes after Amazon was reportedly pleased with the pilot testing of its on-demand and in-person healthcare service in Seattle.

Reportedly, Amazon was able to provide its employees and families speedy access to healthcare services through Amazon Care’s video-based, chat, or remote features connected to a doctor or a nurse. Meanwhile, an individual requiring in-person care is handled through a house call, wherein a medical professional is sent to the patient’s house to allow for direct patient administration.

Amazon Care expansion is handled differently across both remote and in-person variants, sources claimed. Remote services are likely to be available starting this summer. On the other hand, the in-person variant will be rolled out relatively slowly, beginning with cities such as Washington DC, Baltimore, and others.

Amazon confirmed that the major strength of Amazon Care is the speedy testing service it offers, including that of COVID-19.

It is worth noting, however, that when using the in-person variant, the Amazon Care app will offer an updated estimated time for the physician or medical technician to arrive, which is similar to how its retail app treats the package deliveries.
