Broadcom unveils enterprise support for Zowe by Open Mainframe Project

Broadcom Inc. (Broadcom), a Silicon Valley based semiconductor company, has reportedly announced the launch of an enterprise-grade support for open-source software framework developed by Open Mainframe Project called Zowe™.

Reports cite, the announcement of the enterprise-grade support was made during the semi-annually held SHARE conference. The comprehensive enterprise support would help Open Mainframe benefit from open source innovation and embrace modern DevOps.

According to a press release by Broadcom, the Zowe™ opensource software framework allows customers to securely manage & develop mainframe applications similar to any other cloud-based platform. Zowe™ provides the capabilities & framework necessary to expedite mainframe application development through modern DevOps tools while also deploying new levels of infrastructure management & automation.

An IT Director of BPER, Omar Campana stated that the bank is thrilled to hear about the Zowe framework & how the renowned California-based Broadcom is facilitating enterprise support for it. Campana further added that the organization is looking forward to working alongside Broadcom and using Zowe.

Senior Vice President & General Manager at the Mainframe Division of Broadcom, Greg Lotko stated the company is delighted to extend its commitment to Zowe by facilitating the level of support that the company’s customers expect from it. Lotko further added that following today’s announcement, the enterprises looking to leverage the opensource framework provided by Zowe can do so with Broadcom’s world-class support assurance, which would enable them to begin their initiatives of digital transformation with utmost confidence.

The Vice President of IBM Z Software, IBM, Barry Baker stated that the support offering from Broadcom would be yet another milestone attained by Zowe & overtly shows the accelerating momentum of the product that was initially announced just seven months ago.

According to reports, the financial details pertaining to the facilitation of the enterprise-grade support has not been unveiled yet.
