Facebook to counter Apple’s new privacy policies with a pop-up prompt

According to reliable sources, American social media giant Facebook Inc. is set to roll out an in-app prompt to educate iPhone users regarding the social network’s data collection approach. The move is aimed at addressing a new prompt notification that Apple Inc will be launching as a part of its operating system software update.

Facebook’s newly introduced prompt will provide iPhone users with a page of information detailing why the company believes that the users should permit it to track them on the iOS platform.

The new privacy policy changes introduced by Apple will include a full-screen prompt which will ask Instagram and Facebook users to allow their website and application activity to be utilized for personalized ads.

Apple’s upcoming update, which was initially revealed at its developer conference last year, will allow iPhone users to prohibit applications from collecting IDFA code, sources claimed. For those uninitiated, IDFA or Identifier for Advertisers is a device identifier assigned to every mobile device to track data for delivering customized advertising.

Reportedly, the rejection of the request by the user will prohibit the implementation of target advertisements. Facebook, which primarily relies on such tracking for driving its advertisement business, said that the policy changes will severely impact small and medium-scale businesses that depend on personalized ads to reach their customer base.

These privacy-related pop-up notifications will start appearing on Apple’s devices in the next few months, as cited by credible sources.

Meanwhile, Apple has recently released a new update to its iOS, which will allow users to unlock their iPhones using an Apple Watch.
