Google unveils Advanced Protection Program to protect public data

Google Inc., is extending its Advance Protection Program to the Chrome browser, if the user is already a part of Advance Protection Program and the user has turned on sync in Chrome then these securities will automatically be available and protect against problematic downloads.

Google didn’t give all the details about the protection, just not to tell publicly how they work. The company stated that when a user would try to download a risky file, chrome would prompt a warning or even straight away block downloads. These warnings are provided only in Chrome of Mac, Linux, and Windows. Google is not applying these Advanced Options Program for Android and iOS.

Google announced this program in October 2017. The program is created for each Google account that might be more vulnerable to get attacked via sharing access to Google via insecure or risky third-party applications or phishing. Basically, Advanced Protection Program supports avoiding cyberattacks against politicians, business leaders, journalists, activists, and other high-profile accounts.

Advanced Protection Program has worked for security since day one for users excluding the previous security provided by Google. As a result of Advanced Protection Program, Google stated that attackers have changed their tactics to threaten the users outside of email.

The company now also wants to provide protection against drive by downloads- the files that get downloaded unknowingly when the user is surfing on the browser. Google also stated that as Chrome secures users against malwares, Advanced Protection Program users will have a higher level of protection.

Hopefully, Google would get the Advanced Protection Program to all the users someday.
