Marriott launches talent fast-track initiative Tahseen in Saudi Arabia

Marriott International Inc., the largest hotel chain in the world, has reportedly launched the third edition of Tahseen, a talent fast-track program, in Saudi Arabia.

For those unaware, Marriott had first introduced Tahseen in partnership with Cornel University back in 2018. The program basically helps in identifying next-generation leaders in the hospitality sector.

Approximately 70 participants have graduated from Tahseen since its inception, enabling them to acquire managerial roles in Marriott properties across Saudi Arabia.

Around 52 candidates, half of which are female, will participate in the 12-month curriculum this year to accelerate their development. Sources confirmed that the program is set to take place remotely via virtual classes on the renowned e-learning platforms of Cornell University.

Francisca Martinez, Chief Human Resources Officer, Europe, Middle East & Africa at Marriott International, was quoted saying that the hotel chain intends to make significant developments among local talent by offering them a solution that can contribute towards the expansion of the Kingdom’s travel and tourism sector.

Tahseen aids candidates in developing the necessary skill while acquiring the experience needed to prosper as well as emerge as future leaders in hospitality, Martinez added.

Abeer Alreefi, currently the recruitment lead in the Ritz Carlton Jeddah, was one of the participants who graduated back in 2018. She mentioned that she was able to learn about leadership skills, time management, the impact of each department, and working under pressure through Marriott’s program.

The highly individualized talent fast-track program emphasizes practical application across all hospitality departments, sources claimed. It also provides a comprehensive analysis regarding the leadership skills which are primarily led by teams in Marriott’s participating hotels.

Tahseen is known to offer candidates relevant theoretical training as well as operational experience for 12 months.
