Sienna to start drilling on nickel-cobalt-copper project in Sweden

Sienna Resources Inc., (Sienna), a dedicated Vancouver-based high-grade energy metal deposit exploration company, has reportedly announced the launch of a multi-hole drilling program on its flagship cobalt, copper and nickel Slättberg Project in Sweden.

Reports cite, novel high-priority drilling targets were introduced in 2018 following electromagnetic surveys and geophysical work & sampling from the 2018 Slättberg drill program.

Slättberg, which lies 25 km northwest to the city of Falun, Sweden is an old mining hub that hosts massive nickel-cobalt-copper rich sulfide mineralization, which occurs within two kilometer range of copper-nickel mines. This project has drill-defined sulfide mineralization extending up to 100 meters in terms of depth, and remains intact for extension at depth as well as along strike.

The mineralization at the Slättberg Project is hosted by Supracrustal rocks (metasediments and metavolcanics), 1.8 and 1.9 Ga (Svecofennian), which is found on southwestern flank of a big gabbroic-intrusive complex. These historic mines are located alongside the east-west trend of large sulfide occurrences developed within and around a body of ‘leptite’, felsic/rhyolitic tuffaceous rocks typically associated to sulfide mineralization in Bergslagen.

The President of Sienna Resources, Jason Gigliotti stated that the company is thrilled to be back-drilling on its project. Nickel prices were seen increasing and junior mining is gaining popularity. Gigliotti further added that the outcome of 2018 drill program was encouraging, however, it required further target definition. New sampling has provided new drill targets, which the company plans to test in the summer of 2019.

Reports cite, Sweden finds itself at the forefront of the mining industry’s development and exploration boom. Sweden has an active geological survey, greater public support and a lower corporate income tax rates for export-oriented resource extractions. Project work is expected to start by August of 2019.
