Daimler India records 10% growth, surpassing pre-COVID export levels

Daimler India Commercial Vehicle (DICV) has reportedly beaten the pre-covid sales level of exports for its commercial vehicles, recording an upsurge of 10% as compared to its previous record.

Since the start of this year, the company has shipped 9,000 commercial vehicles, including 45,000 vehicles, 9,000 CKD (completely knocked down) kits, and 200 million parts.

According to sources, the company's production facility at Oragadam, Chennai, is the world's only Daimler Truck site that manufactures trucks, engines, transmissions, and buses under four different brands at the same time, which includes FUSO, BharatBenz, Mercedes-Benz, and Freightliner.

Satyaka Arya, Managing Director & CEO of Daimler India was reportedly quoted saying that it is a historic occasion for DICV and a great testimony to the trust that the company’s global customers have in their locally made products.

Arya also stated that international business is one of the company's core strategic pillars for long-term success, as the firm combines cost-effective production techniques with the newest technological breakthroughs to make sustainable and reliable products while sourcing its materials from 400 local vendors.

Because of its growing recognition and experience, the company expects to expand its worldwide operations further. DICV is a shining example of Make in India and seeks to expand India's export footprint to position the country as an international hub for manufacturing operations, Arya added.

Notably, India is a crucial center for DICV's trucks, with the Indian subsidiary supporting the country's increasing domestic demand. The company ships its products to over 60 countries across the world, including Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East.

The DICV recently partnered with the intercity mobility brand, IntrCity to launch buses pre-fitted with mobile operating systems for expanding the adoption of such buses, and to offer better pricing, insurance, and special AMC packages to its operators.
